My brother Dougie is a single hard working father of 2 beautiful children.
He has been recently diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma which is bone marrow cancer and if that's not enough he also has kidney failure.
He has been off work for approximately 2 months.
As you know EI has approved him for 15 weeks and they give approx half of your take home pay which is not enough. He isnt getting child support either.
I had to convince him to allow me to do this. He feels ashamed. It took him a while to actually allow me to do this.
The amount of stress with the monthly bills and not being able to work due to illness is taking a toll on Dougie.
Between his doctor appointments and medical tests is a lot for him to deal with right now. If he was able to work right now he would be out there.
I never know my brother to not work or be on government assistance.
