Hello everyone, as many of you know during the month of December of last year, my father had a heart attack that resulted in him ongoing to open heart surgery. From this surgery they did 5 bypasses on his heart while removing a vein from his leg and arm in order to do so. He has now been in recovery and doing well, but as life always is, you can’t always have it easy. Shortly after being 1 month in from his recovery my mother ( MariaElena Ramirez ) faced a terrible sickness with extreme nausea and vomiting daily as soon as she woke and loosing weight rapidly. After being taken in to the walk in clinic and finding out she was anemic and had been anemic since the month of October she had to do a blood transfusion. They transferred her to the CWH where they began the transfusion and ran some more studies where unfortunately on January19th we received troubling news that she had cancerous cells in her stomach where an ulcer was found. A further investigation began where it was ruled a metastic gastric cancer, an unfortunate, stage 4. She was set to start a chemo cocktail in wenatchee on march 9th. After sadly waiting an entire month for oncologist in wenatchee to make any kind of movement for my mom. We eventually got tired of the wait and headed out to seattle on March 6th for a second opinion. We decided to take my mother into the UW Medical Center ER because she had not been doing well during the previous month and was drastically changing over night. After finding an infection in her liver caused by her cancer that built stones around it and on her gallbladder she had to be admitted in the hospital. Once she was released on March 12, she stayed with my brother while we waited for her new consultation with her new oncology team at FredHutch Cancer Center on March 14th. Sadly she had to be admitted once again on March 15th at UW Medical Center ER after having shortness of breath. She was supposed to have her first ever chemo on Friday the 17th, but could not follow through with it due to her kidney being injured. They began a dialysis for her kidneys on March 18th and successfully succeeded and began her Second dialysis on March 19th, where she unfortunately failed and later on passed that evening. It was unfortunate, my mother never got the chance to receive a chemo treatment nor a treatment plan. But we can be at peace knowing my mother fought greatly and passed peacefully after seeing all her family and finally receiving the great care she longed for, while there in Seattle, Wa. My mother was a thoughtful and outgoing person always, and even helped 2 patients who were born blind by donating her 2 Cornelia's after her passing. Greatly, these persons will be able to see the life she once saw through her eyes..My family now, appreciates greatly all of the help and support or any assistance we can receive and thanks you for your time and outreach we have received.
