Help Abood and his family in Gaza
Donation protected
My name is Rosa and I live in the UK. I have been witnessing the ongoing genocide and feeling powerless to help. This campaign is to help my friend Abood Abu Al-Ata. We met online and speak most days. He and his family are currently stuck in the Gaza Strip at the Nuseirat refugee camp.
Abood is 19 years old. Through our frequent conversations, I have come to know Abood as a polite, kind, patient, thoughtful, deep, empathetic and curious yet naturally private and reserved teenage scholar, who cares deeply about his family. The war on his people has caused him unspeakable grief and stress. First, he lost a sister, as well as his sister's three young daughters, who were killed last December. Then, his mum was discovered to be battling thyroid cancer, which she is currently unable to treat, due to the ongoing war, living under seige. Calcium supplements to support her cancer battle cost $50-70 a week. His mother greives intensely her lost daughter and granddaughters.
The Abu Al-Ata family's home was bombed to rubble, they cannot return.
Since Israel has blocked all aid entering the Gaza Strip, food has become scarce for this family. Some days Abood gets one meal, and some days 'only scraps.' Flour prices are astronomical. In order to make their staple bread, a bag of flour is costing, as of this month (May 2025) $400. Most days they do not eat bread.
Abood was a first - year student at Al-Azhar University when the war broke out, studying computer programming and multimedia. He is proud of his scholastic excellence, always getting high grades, before. He misses school intensely. He has another sister two years older who also studied computer science and engineering. Altogether there are 4 boys and eight girls in his family.
Abood’s ultimate goal is to get his mother safely to somewhere she can receive the care and treatment she needs for her cancer and PTSD. He would also like to continue his studies in creative programming and multimedia, and travel to many parts of the world, like east Asia and the US. Right now, they are just trying to survive, and help his family survive, by ensuring they have enough to eat.
The donations from this fundraiser will help Abood and his family in daily life, and hopefully aid them in escaping Gaza safely
Please help this worthy and precious family!
First two photos are of Abood in Gaza at the moment, living in tents and amongst the rubble. The last photos are of Abood before the war broke out in his orange jacket and a photo of Abood with his mum
