It was June 29, 2018 and it started out just like any normal Friday. It was noon and Melanie was meeting a friend for lunch. It was during this lunch that life for Melanie and her family was about to change drastically. Melanie felt nauseous and her vision started to blur. Nobody quite knew what was happening, but an ambulance was called and Melanie was rushed to the hospital. There doctors discovered that Melanie was experiencing a ruptured brain aneurysm. She was rushed to surgery to coil the aneurysm. Hours went by. The surgery team finally reported that the coiling was successful, however during the procedure Melanie had suffered a stroke. As friends and family heard the news, they one by one began gathering at the hospital. We learned there was a long road ahead as the bleed she had suffered was extensive. That coupled with the stroke meant a potential for many complications. Unfortunately, that was the case for Melanie. There has been one complication after another and Melanie remains in the hospital. She is currently participating in intensive rehab and soon she will be returning home.

For Melanie to be able to return home she will need equipment, 24 hour supervision, continued physical, occupational, and speech therapy for an undetermined amount of time. In addition to that she will have follow up physician appointments, medications and testing to monitor her status. Melanie and her husband Dave will be using these donations to help reduce their out of pocket expenses for these things.

Every donation no matter the amount is appreciated. Melanie and her family have shown strength and determination throughout this difficult time. We know they would do anything to help a friend or stranger in need alike, and we hope to collectively do the same for them.
