My mother, Linda Marquez, was diagnosed with cervical cancer over a year ago, after having major surgery to remove a larger tumor stemming from her ovary. A little while after, we were given the news that it was stage 4 and unfortunately, nothing could be done besides chemo to contain it for a while. After undergoing multiple rounds of 2 different chemos, we were told it wasn't moving anymore. With no health insurance or medicaid, her health bills have racked up to almost $50,000, and still counting. Friday night, January 4th, 2016, she was rushed to the hospital for chest pain. After tests were done, it was concluded she had suffered a heart attack and was diagnosed with what is known as "broken heart syndrome". Due to this, she has been stuck on oxygen and multiple pain medications for days now, thus adding to the multiple hospital bills. I have been contacted by several hospice agents wanting to get my mom started on at home care as soon as possible, but here's the catch, we have to pay back a chunk of the debt first. They are discharging my mom tomorrow, January 8th, from the hospital, and as it stands, we do not have these funds. All I am asking is for whatever it is you can donate. I appreciate all of the prayers and kind words that you all have given, and continue to give to my family and my mother, my world, through this tough time in our lives. I love you all and, once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
