Mandy was a very loving woman who never ceased to smile no matter the situation. She lived her life to the saying that “Where there is a will, there is a way.” After being widowed and raising her young child as a single mother, Mandy willed her way and spent the past 20 years of her life providing only the best for Koko.

On May 5, 2013, Mandy Chen was diagnosed with Stage 3C Ovarian Cancer. After an intensive 10 hour surgery and 8 rounds of IP/IV chemotherapy, Mandy was in remission for 6 months. In February 2014, however, things took a turn for the worse and Mandy encountered rising CA-125 levels and relapsed, with the cancer spreading fast within her. Since then, she has faced many different chemotherapy treatments, sought advice from several different oncologists, including Keck Medical Center of USC and City of Hope, as well as several radiation oncologists. Throughout her battle, Mandy never gave up hope or stopped smiling, even as her vital organs began to show signs of failure.

On August 4, 2015, Mandy’s fight came to an end and she peacefully passed away in her sleep. Throughout this entire battle, Koko, her only child, has never left her side. As Koko is grieving the tragic loss of her mother, she is also faced with a financial burden resulting from medical bills and funeral costs. To assist Koko with this process, any donation will be helpful and greatly appreciated. Thank you for your kindness and support.
