Donation protected
Our patient Louis Riccardi was born with a birth defect called Spina Bifida. Leaving him partially paralyzed from the waist down and fully paralyzed from the knees down. Aside from the challenges of being wheelchair bound Louis also struggles with learning disabilities such as reading and writing. Despite the challenges and struggles Louis has faced he managed to focus on being an athlete and self-advocate for disabled children and teens.
Louis has made many accomplishments with his great athletic abilities such as competing in South Africa on the USA IWAS team (international wheelchair amputee sports) Accomplishing 4 varsity letters as a student in Nutley High school NJ. Louis also competed on the Children’s Specialized Hospital Track and Field team in 2011 participating in Javelin discus, shot put, swimming, archery, table tennis and weight lifting where he took 14 metals home helping his team come in 2nd place overall. Louis is currently on a sled hockey team and continues to be the best athlete and advocate he can be. With an amazing spirt and outlook on life.
Living a lifestyle in a seated position the majority of his life, Louis has developed a constant strain and tightness in his upper back and neck region. Because of an outdated wheelchair it has become extremely difficult for Louis and his family to maneuver through everyday activities such as: getting in and out of cars, maneuvering around his home and stores and most importantly getting in and out of the wheelchair.
We are hoping to raise enough money for our amazing patient Louis to purchase a life changing wheelchair for him called the “FREEDOM CHAIR”. Please help us. All donations matter and are greatly appreciated. Louis has a great heart and it would be an amazing experience to be able to give back to an outstanding individual.
