If you know Frank Baker, you know what it is to laugh, you know what it’s like to call a friend and have them show up immediately, and you know he’d give you the shirt off his back before he asks for anything in return.

A few weeks ago Frank suffered his 6th & 7th stroke. You read that right, he’s had 7 of these stupid things and is still able to run his mouth. Jesus - or whatever God you believe in - has his hands on my dad and knows he’s not done here with us.

Unfortunately, these strokes hit him harder than the ones before them. He has lost most of his mobility in his left arm and leg. He is unable to do much of anything on his own - something he absolutely hates.

The staff at Pinehurst FirstHealth Rehab have been absolute superheroes. With their help we have seen major improvements. They even had him walking up a few steps yesterday (with heavy assistance but it counts)! The doctors have told us the real work is when he comes home - May 20th. He will need around the clock care & supervision in order to continue his work with Physical and Occupational therapists. As much as I wish my family and I could do this on our own - we can’t. Fran is a full time librarian, Matt works full time at Carolina Canners and I work & live full time in Atlanta. Not to mention the two wonderful kids Fran and Matt are raising; that require more hours of care and dedication than any full time career (I am officially in awe of ALL parents). We have all put our lives on hold to help our dad and unfortunately, it’s not enough.

Our ultimate goal is to get Frank back to being fully independent and able to live on his own. That means, multiple doctor visits, home health nurses, renovations of an unsafe home, and countless hospital bills. Worrying about money is the last thing my dad should be doing. In order for him to get back to the man we all know and love we need your help.
