Hi my name is Liz and I’m reaching out to the beautiful community to help me raise some much needed funds to get gizmo on his feet again. He unfortunately started losing his feeling, function and pain receptors in his back end. Gizmo deteriorated extremely rapidly and over the course of only a few hours, has ended up paralysed. Gizmo was rushed to the specialist vet where he was diagnosed with IVDD (intervertebral disc disease). Classed at a stage 5 (the most severe case) he was given a 50/50 chance with spinal surgery, of regaining any feeling in his back legs and a 5% chance without surgery. This does not mean that he will be able to walk again. The surgery involves his spine being cut open and his vertebrae being operated on. Although we got news that the surgery seemed to go well, poor little Gizmo has ended up in the ICU with complications, where he is receiving around the clock, 24/7, care. This in itself has meant that Gizmos owners have incurred extra fees they were not made aware of, on top of the thousands of dollars his very invasive surgery is costing. Gizmo needs your help to remain in the ICU so he can keep receiving the care he needs to have the best chance at recovering from this traumatic disease.

Gizmo has spent the last 4 days since his surgery in the ICU. He has had trouble with his breathing and maintaining his oxygen levels due to a pretty bad case of pneumonia after his spine surgery. To help poor little man, he’s been heavily sedated and had an oxygen mask on his little face, and a nebuliser to help clear his lungs.

Gizmos family have had some heartbreaking phone calls at 2am informing them of his deterioration and the possibility of further procedures to help open up his airways and give him the best possible chance at getting through this. Fortunately, the most incredible ICU team that is spending every second of every day monitoring him, has managed to get him stable BUT HE IS NOT OUT OF THE WOODS YET. The ICU is costing $4.5k a day to have the best possible care team for Gizmo.

please, please, please help me, help his parents get the much needed funds to keep Gizmo in the ICU so he can continue with this incredibly hard recovery and get home to his beautiful family. We all love him and miss him so incredibly much.
