On March 12th our family got a call that our beloved Todd was rushed to the emergency room after collapsing at Stop & Shop, while hard at work. Later to find out it was due to a grand mal seizure. The seizure as we came to find out, was his body sending out a warning signal that something more sinister was transpiring within him.. Todd was immediately given a string of tests and scans to figure out how he had such a violent, epileptic episode out of the blue.. There was no way we could have prepared for the devastating results that followed. Our mighty Todd was about to be in for the fight of his life.
The Cat scan showed a large mass on the left side of Todd's Brain, on his front temporal lobe. Upon farther investigation an MRI confirmed Todd had a large glioma infiltrating his brain. Awaiting a craniotomy to identify exactly what he was facing, Todd battled even more seizures and several infections that led to multiple emergency surgeries. Todd has remained a warrior throughout every medical hurdle that has preceded his Craniotomy.
On April 11th Todd went into surgery at RI hospital with the most renowned neurosurgeon on this side of the country. After 9 hours of holding our breathe, Todd came out victorious! His wonderful surgical team was able to remove 75% of his tumor. Our family could've never prepared for the pathology report that was yet to come. What they resected came back as maligant tumor, a Grade 4 Astrocytoma(Glioblastoma) Todd's true battle was just beginning and will continue for what remains of his life. As he goes through extensive chemo and radiation treatment. He remains to be the Toddy we all know and love. Resilient, strong, compassionate and loving to all those who cross his path. Todd has unforeseeable medical expenses that are compiling as days go on. Todd needs 24 hour care. His Caretaker and sister Ally has taken on that entire responsibility of being her brother's keeper, leaving her unavailable to work or provide anything financially. As Todd needs constant care and supervision. As well as a specialized diet, and transportation to and from daily appointments. We are now reaching out to the community, the people Todd has truly lived for to rally around him in any and all possible ways.
