Skydive for ANDYSMANCLUB
Hi, my name is Jamie Whiteley and sadly, over the last 10 years my friends, family and I have experienced loss of friends and family members to Male Suicide. In memory of those I have lost, and to ensure that no one has to experience the horrific pain, heartbreak and mass destruction left after losing someone to suicide, I am doing a charity skydive to raise money and awareness to help and support the amazing charity, Andy’s Man Club.
With this charity fundraising event, my aim and goal, is to help promote men's mental health and help demolish the stigma surrounding men's mental health and the fear that men are weaker or ‘less than a man’ if they show their emotions. Which sadly many still feel in society today. With your help and support, we can make sure that there is help and support readily available to men who need help and someone to listen. Your donation today can help prevent male suicide and ensure that #THATONEMAN receives that help and support they need.
Thank You
I want to take this opportunity to thank you for all your help and support and for any donations you are able to make. Every single donation helps to ensure that men do not feel that suicide is the only way out and that the world would be better off without them.
Please always speak out if you are struggling, as #ITSOKAYTOTALK.
Andys Man Club
Andys Man club is a local charity which was set up back in mid-2016 by nine men, who met in a small room in the stereotypical Yorkshire town of Halifax, with the simple aim of talking through their issues and helping each other deal with their mental health. All nine men on that day agreed that there was a magic in that room that had to be shared, and from this very day, a movement was formed which has grown and developed significantly, faster than anyone could have predicted. 7 years on, Andys Man Club now has groups at over 150 locations across three countries of the UK.
The Andys Man Club name originated from a man named Andrew Roberts, who sadly took his own life at the age of 23 back in early 2016. Sadly, Andrews family did not have any inkling and or wasn’t aware that he was suffering or struggling to that extent, to the point that he would take his own life, and as a result so this, they decided to look deeper into male suicide and men’s mental health. From their research, they soon discovered that male suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50, with male mental health surrounded by well-ingrained cultural stigma in the UK.
From this discovery, Andrew’s mum and brother-in-law, together came up with the idea of ANDYSMANCLUB, which would be a designated group for men, aged 18 and above, where they could speak openly about their mental health in a judgement-free, non-clinical, safe environment. Since the Andys Man Club charity was established, the charity has groups which have bases nationally and are solely run by volunteers, which at some point, have experienced, first hand, the services provided by the Andy’s Man Club charity, when they were service users themselves. The Andy’s Man Club is used on a weekly basis by over 3000 men and an army of over 900 facilitators, which aid the continued growth of the movement, of which is the ANDYSMANCLUB.
