Liver for Luke
Donation protected
Luke went to Denver because he had high temperature that was not going down. He came to Denver because he had his live liver transplant done there in 2014. They know his medical history and they have been the ones who he follow ups with.
After getting here to Denver all his tests showed that he needs to be re-transplanted. Luke was surprised and shocked that it had progressed so fast.
He bought about 4 days’ worth of clothes because he wasn’t expecting that he would have to stay. The doctors in Denver have stated that his MELD score is high and that he would go to the top of the list for a liver transplant.
We think he should stay here in Denver so he is close to the hospital. If he went back to Utah it would take 8 ½ hours to drive back and sometimes the opportunity window is only two hours.
To stay in Denver he will have to get a extended stay hotel and pay for food. He would also need to go to the hospital for tests on regular base.
Luke has not been able to work for awhile and has been on disability. We are trying to get him a secondary insurance or else he would be responsible for whatever expenses that occur.
The doctors said that a re-transplant can be complicated and risky because of scar tissue. They also want him to stay in the area for 6-8 weeks for recovery and checkups.
Luke has always been a very caring and thoughtful person. We know he has touched many people’s lives. It’s hard to watch him go through this.
We sure would like Luke to live a happy life for him and his son's. Any support you can give will be used for his stay and medical expenses.
