As a lot of you know our mother Betty ended up in the hospital May 1st 2021 due to a bowel obstruction which took a turn for the worst a few day later resulting in a 6 hour surgery and a very long bumpy road to try and help her recover. She was placed on a ventilator for a few day after the surgery and was in the hospital pretty consistently until the end of August/1st part of September. She’s had so many scopes, X-rays, mri’s, therapy, ups and downs. Every night she was on total parental nutrition (TPN) through her picc line which is the only thing she can have & that is keeping her alive due to the limit amount of food & water she can keep in her, everything she eats either end up as diarrhea or throwing up. On top of this the list of daily medications she has is unreal and expensive! I could go into so many more details! She transitioned to Madonna Rehabilitation early September, had to completely learn how to walk again amongst other things! Got to come home on October 15 2021, 2 days before my parents 51st wedding anniversary. They trained my dad, my aunt and myself on how to administer the nightly TPN through her picc line and went through the list of medications. Its was extremely overwhelming, a bit scary & we were all nervous! Mom handled every step like pro! She was home until November 11 when she was admitted to the hospital due to weakness, elevated blood pressure, infected picc line and a severe shoulder/arm infection. She needed another surgery to clean out this infection & they put in a central iv line which resulted her to be on 30 days iv antibiotics at home when released. They trained us all again on how to give her daily iv antibiotics in addition to the nightly TPN she still needed. Half way through the iv antibiotics treatments she received a call from the pharmaceutical place which we got the iv antibiotics from telling her this is going to cost $18,000 ($600 per day x 30 days) and how would she like to pay?? What?! They NEVER told her this was NOT covered by insurance! Long story short her and my dad are paying this, nothing more they can do, they tried fighting but it’s a loosing battle! In December their furnace decides to take a crap and had to get a new one installed, more money. Come the new year we were hoping for better but she has had a pretty rough road up until this pint. A few weekly long hospital stays with not much positive for an outcome, nightly TPN still and daily meds. Today Tuesday 2/22/22 she was admitted back into the hospital. Constant throwing up for the past 2 weeks, severely dehydrated and high blood pressure. I have no idea how mom keeps fighting but she’s tired. I could go into more greater details about her journey but it would be a book. I would LOVE to relieve a little stress from her and my dad financially! She is a 2 time cancer survivor, not once did we have a benefit for her, she has given to so many others & I’m hoping we all can finally help her. We wanted to put on a benefit so she could see everyone but she’s so weak and we want to keep her as heathy as we can so we decided the next best thing was a go fund me. If you can donate we are so extremely thankful and if you can’t donate we will take all the prayers in the world for her!! She still tries and work from home when she can and my dad is still working at John Deere when they should be enjoying their retirement together. Thank you so much for you donation. - Love Kati, Sean and family.
