Dear friends,

I ask for your support to help me reach a dream held deep in my heart. This spring, I aim to travel to Nepal to visit Buddha Shakyamuni's birthplace and participate in a retreat with my teacher, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. During this time, Rinpoche’s eldest daughter will Ceremonially be named his Dharma Heir and holder of the Sakyong Lineage. Being present for this amazing event would be a great honor.

To deepen my understanding of wisdom and compassion, I long to practice in-person with Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, who has been my guide and heart teacher for over 35 years, as his father was before him.

For many years, I have also longed to experience a place where Buddhist views and practices permeate the land and culture. In Nepal, I would love to see the stupas, retreat caves, and statues that hold the blessings of centuries of practitioners who have meditated and contemplated on the preciousness of human life and worked to develop their minds of compassion to be of benefit to others. I would also cherish the opportunity to practice in these places and contemplate the preciousness of my own life. Immersed in such a place, I’d like to reflect further on how to develop love for all beings.

By making a journey to Nepal to study with Rinpoche, I aspire to soften and open myself further through the experience of practicing in a monastic environment and learning from people who live in a place very different than what I have known.

In order to connect with a sacred space where many great teachers have practiced because they aspired to bring more compassion and wisdom into the world and witness the formal rise of the young Jetsun Drukmo Mukpo as the next Sakyong Lineage holder, I long to make this journey.
