CAN YOU HELP ME HELP PENNY

Greetings. Thanks for taking the time to read and consider helping Penny. I first met Penny and her siblings on my way to work about a month ago living in the back brush behind a few properties.

GA has more loose and abandoned dogs than I've ever seen back home. Penny and her siblings looked to be just a few months old. They were just skin and bones and the property owners said they had a mom and one point but she had not come back for a few weeks.

During that time I was also offered a severance at my job at Tesla and asked to leave or be laid off. Restructured. I kept feeding the pups and my intention didn't change. I have Rook already. Two dog mouths to feed is not that much different than one. Tough times are here for everyone and what will happen will happen and these GA stray have no one. The humane society is filled beyond compacity and will euthanize out of necessity. The rescues are few, underfunded and stretched beyond thin.

The day I finally earned enough trust and brought a net and some cheese to catch a particular one I had made a bond with was the first time I met Penny. I had come for weeks and hadn't seen her since one of the first days. She was limping, had mange pretty bad already and had obviously been hit by a car very recently and was wounded in many places.

I could tell the story about how I had a conversation with myself about my limited resources and how I had no business taking in a stray puppy with no job in a new state with no connections or support network. But I had already made up my mind. I took Penny because she needed the most help. She would surely die without it.

Here is the ask. I thought I could treat her wounds and she would heal and get better. Then I could treat the mange. I bought bandages, shampoos, ointments for her skin and wounds, puppy pads and antiseptic sprays. She's eating and drinking. I've had her for a few weeks already and she is not improving. Her wounds are not healing well despite my best efforts and I cannot treat her mange until they heal. This is beyond my uneducated abilities.

I've got to take her to the vet. Tomorrow. Very likely the urgent/emergency. I know she's going to need a lot of care that will likely involve a few nights, at least, in the hospital. Drugs and lotions and I cannot afford that. I can feed and house her right now and take care of her once I'm employed. And I have the time to take care of her through her recovery while I navigate the disastrous job market.

Budgeting my severance I can survive a few months before I'm in trouble. I'm sure I'll figure out something but Penny needs help right away. If I take her I know they'll say euthanize her unless I can afford X & Y and if so I'll at least need the funds to consider my options. Can you help me help Penny? If the cost is less than what I'm trying to raise I'll return the funds to you or donate them to much needed rescues here in GA.
