Stanford's High School Summer Program

Hello! My name is Angel Luna. I am currently a junior at Heights High School in Houston, Texas. For the last 3 years of my life I have been working hard to achieve the unthinkable in my family. To attend the best colleges in the nation and take advantage of all of the opportunities. I have taken several mathematics classes and the University of Houston-Downtown and have gone out of my way to succeed in the the most rigorous classes available to me.
About 4 months ago I decided to apply to Stanford's High School Summer College program (A once in a lifetime opportunity). Although I didn't know whether I would be able to save up enough money for the program, I knew I couldn't let the opportunity go so I decided to apply. Soon enough, a couple of weeks late I received an acceptance letter from them which brought both happiness and fear. Happy of a once of a lifetime opportunity, of being a college student at one of the nation’s top universities. Scared at the fact that, even with a generous financial aid offered to me, my family would still have problems paying for it. Since that moment I took up a part-time job and had plans to fund raise in school to save up for the rest of the cost. I also began to look for scholarships and began to apply for them. However, as we all know the COVID-19 arose and the situation worsened. I am unable to fund raise at school, the applications I intended to apply began to close due to the virus, and my family has been struggling financially due to job uncertainties.
That’s why I ask you, to help my family and I with any amount possible! Going to Stanford is a step to achieving bigger dreams that await me after High School, and it will allow me to achieve my goal of attending a top tier college education. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Thank you,
Angel Luna
