On December 23rd at @7 am Michael Wood, a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and dear friend to many, was struck by a car while he was crossing the street while at work.
He went airborne and landed on the hood of the car, hitting his head on the windshield. He has multiple injuries. He fractured his skull, two ribs, pelvis in two places, and ankle. He also has blunt force trauma to his brain, elbow, femur, and knee. They have removed a piece of his skull to allow some room for swelling and have managed blood pressure and any activity that might contribute to the brain swelling.
Kudos to Essex Rescue and the Fletcher Allen ER team for quickly recognizing the severity of his injuries and giving him the care that has kept him alive. He is currently at The Vermont Respite House, receiving excellant care.
His wife Marsha, son Chris and daughter in-law Susan, daugther Jennifer, immediate and extended family and friends have been visiting daily, for long hours, and driving back and forth, multiple times a day.
This page is set up to help defer costs associated with his hospital stay and help alleviate the financial stress associated with this accident so everyone can focus their prayers for Michael and his family.
Only time will tell what may happen from here. Thank you everyone for your prayers and continued support.
