“Life can change in a second.” We’ve all heard this phrase and hope those changes will be positive ones. For our beloved friends and family members Wes,Cassey & their 18 month old daughter Ayven, they are experiencing this in the most extreme of ways.
My name is Nathan Miller and I’m writing this on behalf of our friends, the Harrison family. Their world has been turned upside down with devastating news that Ayven has an aggressive form of childhood cancer called neuroblastoma, and she’s starting the fight of her young life.
Ayven is strong and she will fight this. And Wes and Cassey will give everything they can to fight right alongside her. They’ve entered into a world no family should have to experience, and I’m asking for your help during this battle.
Ayven is nearly finished with her first round of chemotherapy and will begin round two shortly. The current treatment plan involves multiple rounds of chemotherapy before performing surgery on the tumor. After surgery, she will undergo radiation therapy, immunotherapy, retinoid therapy and likely even more chemotherapy. Because the cancer has also been found in her bone marrow, additional treatment including bone marrow transplantation will also be required. The doctors are going to hit this with everything they’ve got.
As a result of these treatments, Wes and Cassey will be spending time away from work while with Ayven for her treatments and surgery. Medical insurance provides some coverage for the treatments and hospital stays, but there are a lot of unexpected expenses associated with this process. As you can imagine, this is an all hands-on deck situation. The financial implications of this battle with cancer are real.
In addition to your thoughts, prayers and endless good vibes, one of the most meaningful ways you can support the Harrison’s is with a pledge of financial support. Every dollar raised will help alleviate their financial burden, allowing Wes and Cassey to focus as much energy as possible on giving Ayven all the love and care they can. This is how you can most positively impact this terrible situation.
In the dark and challenging times, what gets us through is the love, optimism and strength of those around us. As family, friends and members of Wes & Cassey’s ‘circle of love’ now is the time to unite and show our strength as their support system. There is no contribution too small or too great.
If you are unable to donate, Wes and Cassey would like you to know that your positive thoughts and prayers are very much appreciated. If you would please share this wherever you can, I know there are a lot of friends and family that would love to help but I don’t have contact information for everyone.
If you would prefer to send a check rather than donating online, please message me for a mailing address. Similarly, if you would like to send a card to let the Harrison’s know you are thinking about them, please reach out if you need their address. Due to her lowered immune system from the treatments, we ask that you do not send flowers as they can carry fungus that can make Ayven sick.
Thank you for rallying behind Wes and Cassey and their beautiful daughter Ayven. Your support will carry them through this difficult time and will be an integral contribution to their eventual victory. Thank you for your help, we are forever grateful.
