Help Happy Walk Again

Hello Family and Friends,
As you may or may not know, Happy became very sick with stomachaches and leg problems starting March 9th. We went to various doctors and emergency rooms and they diagnosed it as either pancreatitis or soft tissue damage. At that point, we could not even imagine what would come next since the doctors told us that she would be fine after taking these medications. Shortly after a week, Happy started to limp more and more and eventually lost her ability to walk. We took her to the emergency vet and they said to get her to the bigger hospital ASAP since it was critical. Happy got hospitalized that day on March 28th and the vets suspected cancer, autoimmune disease (encephalitis), or viral infection. After the first night, a veterinary neurologist called us discussing the result of Happy's MRI. He said that they found lesions in the brain and spine that is causing the brain inflammation. We were distraught when we heard the news. For five days, our baby who is only three years old endured through all of these different tests for the doctors to figure out what the problem is. We didn't want to go the route of an invasive test (spinal tap, biopsy) as it carries some risks. They did not find any signs of issues from the x-ray, ultrasound, and blood tests. We're still waiting on the test result from the specialized blood tests for viral infections. They can not 100% rule out cancer, but the doctor suspects it to be an auto-immune disease. We were able to pick her up from the hospital on April 1st with an aggressive treatment plan.

Since then, although we are so so so thankful and happy to have her home with us, it still breaks out hearts to see her not being able to walk, to go to her favorite park to play, or even to pee and poop. Through so many tests that Happy has to get and equipment we need to buy in order to carry her and aid in her process to be able to walk again, there's a lot of finances and bills we need to pay that insurance does not cover. While we are going to do everything we can to help our baby, this is a big financial stretch right now. We understand that it is a difficult time with COVID so it would mean the world to us if you would help our family and help Happy walk again. We are staying hopeful and we cannot wait for the day we can see her walking, running, and fully back to her happy self.

Thank you so much for your support and caring so much for our furbaby! Happy loves each and every one of you.
