On the morning of December 14th, our lives changed in a matter of minutes.

A fire broke out in another resident’s unit, and within moments it spread through the entire building—including our home. There was no time to grab anything. The building was at risk of collapse, and we had to escape immediately. Our building has since been condemned, making any recovery of our belongings impossible.

We lost everything—our home, all of our possessions, and the sense of safety we had built there.

In addition to our home and everything inside it, we also lost three vehicles. One was in the garage, one in the driveway, and one parked outside the building. All were damaged so severely that they were declared total losses. Reliable transportation, something we depended on daily, is now gone.

I am a disabled veteran, and before the fire I was actively interviewing and applying for work, doing everything I could to move forward and support my family. The fire abruptly halted that progress. Losing our home, transportation, and basic necessities has made rebuilding that momentum incredibly difficult.

Right now, we need help securing stable housing, including first month’s rent and the ability to furnish a home from scratch—beds, a couch, a table, and everyday essentials. We also need help purchasing a used vehicle so I can continue pursuing employment and attend necessary appointments.

I am also an artist, and every piece of artwork I’ve created over the years was lost in the fire. Art is more than a passion for me—it’s a vital outlet and part of my healing process. Being able to replace basic art supplies would allow me to begin creating again and regain a sense of purpose and normalcy.

Insurance does not cover many of these losses, which is why we are reaching out for help. Asking for support is not easy, but rebuilding alone feels overwhelming.

Our goal will help us:

• Secure housing and basic furnishings

• Purchase a reliable used vehicle

• Replace essential household items

• Restore art supplies so I can begin creating again
