My name is Mazelit (Toni) Airaksinen, I'm a journalist in Delray Beach, and I'm raising money for our friend in the Jewish community Mr. Norman Klein.

Norman is a happy-go-lucky and joyful staple at one of our local Dunkin Donuts. He's been in the Delray Beach/ Boynton community for decades.

But recently, he has fallen on hard times.

He only makes 1,400$ a month from his social security check. Normally this is enough for him, but he desperately needs to find a new place to move — moving expenses and a new place to live will not come cheap.

Norman does not have anyone to help him.

"I'm 87... I'm a widower... at this stage of my life I can't take care of myself" he told me August 30th 2026.

He has no any surviving family to help him.

He currently rents in Boynton Beach, but we are hoping to find a place for him to rent in Delray (just 10 minutes away) because "Delray is my home," says Norman.

We are seeking to raise 5,000$ for relocation expenses and first and last month's rental deposit for Norman. The rest of the money will go towards necessary things like furniture, couches, wardrobe, and extraneous expenses.

Currently he only makes 1,400 from social security. He also gets 168 a month for food, "in Florida, you know that's not enough to buy proper food," says Norman.

Norman has been a delightful member of the Jewish community here in South Florida and needs our help. Behind the scenes, I am working with his friend Michael Schulman to help him find an affordable place to rent.

It takes a village to raise a child.

But it also takes a village to help our most vulnerable: the elderly.
