On March 9, 2016 at 8:45pm, my brother and son were gunned down while walking home. My son was shot twice in the leg when my brother, Nicholas, shielded him with his own body and took several gunshots to the upper torso. Because of Nicholas’ selfless actions, my son survived. Nicholas died upon arrival to the hospital.

Nik who was only 26 years old, leaves behind two young sons: Brian, 7, and Anthony, 4. My baby brother will never have the opportunity to watch his children grow up, graduate high school, go to college, learn to drive, get married, and have children because he gave his life to protect my son. He is our hero and will continue to be our family’s guardian angel in heaven. My brother Nik was a gentle soul, was loved by all and was only starting life with his sons.

Nik’s children, Nik’s parents and family need your support during this unexpected time of tragedy. Nik learned from his family to always protect one another, and his sacrifice is a testament to his loving devotion to them. As a faith community, it is now our turn to look after his loved ones. We are asking for donations to assist with funeral expenses to support them through this very difficult time.
