Help Sebastian Get Life-Saving Surgery
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
We're reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for our beloved cat, Sebastian, our sweet boy that we found under a shed when he was just weeks old, almost five years ago. Recently, he was diagnosed with a possible Diaphragmatic Hernia and urgently needs surgery to recover and live a long and healthy life.
In short - A diaphragmatic hernia occurs when part of the abdominal organs, such as the stomach, liver, or intestines, move through a tear or weakness in the diaphragm into the chest cavity. We noticed something was wrong when he displayed signs of difficulty of breathing and wheezing/coughing. Through X-rays and examinations the vets determined that there is a possible Hernia or (unlikely) a chance of Lung Cancer - Along with a shift in his heart placement, causing weak readings on the right side of his chest. Left untreated it is fatal.
In order to clearly and concisely determine if the cause is a hernia or lung cancer a CT scan is needed. Surgery is ultimately the answer regardless of the diagnosis. If it is confirmed to be the Diaphragmatic Hernia (most likely) then they will have to cut open his chest, remove organs if they are too damaged, repair the hole, keep him for a few days for recovery, along with several what ifs/possible risky scenarios. The estimated total for the CT is $2,000 and $12,000 for the surgery. This is not including the $1,000+ we have already spent on examinations, tests, consultations.
We understand that this is no one else's financial responsibility, but we just can't stand the thought of losing our sweet boy so soon and we are still in shock from the costs. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser with your friends and family. Sending positive thoughts and advice are always appreciated!
Sebastian means the world to us, and we're so grateful for any support you can provide. We will keep everyone updated on his progress throughout this journey.
With love and gratitude,
