We are fundraising to help Rudy access life changing medical treatment that will hopefully alleviate their fibromyalgia symptoms. For three years, Rudy has been navigating symptoms like chronic pain, fatigue, migraines, severe brain fog, memory loss and muscle weakness that have been getting worse. Rudy can no longer work full-time and they have had to pause their studies because of this.
Their mobility and quality of life have been drastically impacted. Rudy is currently spending hundreds of pounds each month to manage their pain and other symptoms as best as they can. But this treatment could be a longer term solution!
rTMS is a fibromyalgia treatment that is new and offered privately. It is not currently available through the NHS. The NHS treatments and support are focused on learning to live with pain, rather than preventing it.
We are aiming for £5600 as this is the cost of the rTMS treatment but will be grateful for any support towards this amount.
If we raise more than the target, these funds will be used to support another black queer person with fibromyalgia to access the same treatment.
For over a decade, Rudy has worked as an artist and organiser, highlighting resistance, building community, and centering disability justice, anti-racism, and queer voices. Now, we hope the energy they've given can come back to support them in their time of need.
