YL College: Mission Trip to DR
Donation protected
In Mark 16:15, Jesus tells his disciples to go unto the world and share the gospel, the good news. Jesus gave his followers purpose. That's what I am after, a simplistic life full of purpose. How incredible to GET to talk about God and His love? I want to get to know people; Why are they where they are at? What's their background, their life like? Because we were put on this Earth to build relationships-- God never intended for us to do life alone (Genesis 2:18). The most incredible thing to me is that God knows no borders. In His eyes we are all the same-- He loves each of us. He doesn't want to just see prosperity in America but to the ends of the Earth and the only way to achieve this success, is faith in Him. As a Christ follower, you obey, you remain faithful, and you become a light for Jesus.
I want to be a light to people all over. Simply in ones' actions, a person can be a light because you aim to act like Jesus. Jesus is a king, yet would rather serve than be served. It is said that we are the most like Christ when we serve others. He is all knowing, yet all loving. We still love because God shows us this kind of mercy everyday. Before I really knew this guy, Jesus, I had "attend a mission trip" on my bucket list. I thought of mission trips as fun opportunities to sacrifice my phone, computer, etc. for a week, not realizing that it amounts to so much more. It's a commitment to live life for Him, it's a step in the journey of life with Christ, fulfilling His promise.
Thus, I'm excited to announce I've chosen to embark on my first mission trip to the Dominican Republic with Young Life College during my spring break (March 5-March 13)! Throughout the week I will have the opportunity to share Who this amazing God is to so many people while serving the local community. This trip is not free but I'm confident that God will provide! If you find yourself called to help fund my trip to the DR feel free to contribute using this GoFundMe site! I have to raise $1700 by the mid-late February, so anything will help. Another way you can support is by continuous prayer. Please pray for our group’s safety and that God will prepare us for our visit.
I’m excited to see how the Lord is going to work in the Dominican! I will be sure to keep you all updated on this incredible experience when I return in March.
With Love,
Emily Hume
