Steeton AFC midfielder George Kelly (G Kell) sustained a serious leg break in our fixture with Nelson on Saturday 24th January.

Following an initial assessment it was confirmed he’d suffered a broken tibia and fibula. George has today (Sunday 25th) undergone surgery where the surgeon has inserted a metal rod from his knee to his ankle. Whilst the surgery went well, George is obviously still in a lot of pain.

Not only does George face a lengthy spell away from football, he also faces a long period off work. As George is self employed, he will have no access to sick pay meaning this injury will have completely stopped his income.

We are hoping to raise funds to support George during his rehabilitation, helping him to focus on his recovery without the added stress of financial pressure.
