Hi Everyone,
My name is Alaa, a Palestinian American architecture student in California. I was fortunate enough to be able to evacuate from Gaza after the 2009 war, but my father and siblings and many other family members are still in Gaza. I'm reaching out for support to evacuate my family members out of Gaza and help them get back on their feet. As I have been trying my best to take any measure that will help my family get out, I've exhausted all measures, the embassy would not help me as they say there's not much they can do. My family is counting on me to help them, and while I helped with as much as I can thus far, there’s only so much I can do. Therefore I turn to humanity for further help. My family have suffered treacherous conditions and unimaginable hardships for nearly five months. A few of my family members did not make it as they were brutally killed by Israeli airstrikes including my dear aunt, several cousins, and nephew. I can't bear to lose any more family members, Im constantly overwhelmed with anxiety when my family members don’t answer their phones not knowing whether they’re still alive, every day that they remain in Gaza is the terrifying reality of them not surviving the next bombing. As conditions worsen and their lives threatened daily, this is an urgent plea for help.
Despite the unrelenting bombardment and devastation, they've embodied resilience and strength in the face of these hardships. My family's homes were completely destroyed along with everything they own, their belongings, their savings, their livelihoods, workplaces, schools, places of worship, loved ones, and everything else in Gaza. Forced to relocate to southern Gaza with only the clothes on their backs where they were told it would be a safe zone but now that Israeli military operations are moving south, they are forced once again to relocate but there’s no safe zones left in Gaza to relocate to which is why we urgently need to evacuate them out of Gaza and into Egypt. During this ongoing genocide, my family have suffered humiliation, starvation, no clean water, no electricity, no internet, and insufficient medical care for the sick and denied basic human rights and necessities. For now, they are living in unsustained tents and they have even separated from each other in case a bomb drops on them they’ll have a surviving family member elsewhere. Food and goods costs have dramatically increased in Gaza since the strip is not getting much aid in. They continue to witness destruction and death all around them, hear the constant explosions of bombs day and night, being exposed to white phosphorus dropped down on them. That is besides the emotional and psychological toll from which they may never recover. No one should have to endure these conditions. My family are innocent civilians who deserve to live and grow old and achieve their goals and dreams and live to see their kids and their grandkids grow up. Having departed Gaza in 2009, I've faced challenges in reuniting with my family since then. I sincerely hope for the chance to see them again, spend quality time, and create lasting memories together.
I'm reaching out to raise funds that will allow them to escape these disastrous conditions. The goal is to relocate them to Egypt as they requested away from imminent danger. They are being asked to pay about $5000 per person to be allowed to leave Gaza through Ya Hala Company (travel agencies are are taking advantage of the situation by inflating prices). The goal factors in the 2.9% + $0.30 that Gofundme charges per donation. Plus, the $54 transfer fee per $5000 transferred through Money Gram to the family. Funds will also go towards them buying food, shelter, clothing, and rebuild their lives. Note that this amount is going towards 15 families of the Aisha family. If you’d like to directly sponsor a family, please contact me and I will get you in direct contact with them where you’ll be able to lend your help.
Your support means more than just financial assistance. It is solidarity, compassion in the face of injustice, humanity, and a commitment to preserving human lives. I humbly ask you to help me help my family get to safety with whatever you can contribute, even if its only a dollar it’s enough to make a difference. If you’re not able to donate then please share the link with their story and stand with them in the darkest time of their lives.
