Help my family get back on our feet
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
My name is Leondra, and I never imagined I’d be in a position where I’d have to ask for help like this. My world was turned upside down recently when my husband—our family’s main provider—suffered a debilitating stroke. He was working as a security officer, a job he took pride in, but the stroke effected the entire right side of his body leaving him with limited mobility. He is no longer able to work, and our family’s life changed overnight.
We did everything we could to stay afloat, but the financial strain quickly became too much. With only my income, we were evicted from our home due to the rent being more than I can afford. Right now, it's just the three of us—my husband, our sweet 3-year-old daughter, and me—trying to stay strong and move forward, one day at a time.
We were blessed to find a new apartment, a fresh start for our little family. But we simply don’t have the funds for the moving expenses: the deposit, prorated rent, and the cost to turn on basic utilities like electricity. These aren't luxuries—they're necessities for us to live safely and begin rebuilding our lives as we wait on my husband's disability to get approved.
Any amount, no matter how small, will make a difference. If you can’t donate, sharing our story would mean the world to us. We are holding on to hope, and we believe in the kindness of others. Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping our family find our way home again.
With love and gratitude,
Leondra Lacey-Batey
