Hi, my name is Kristi and this is my dog Winston. If you know Winston, you know that he is the most amazing animal you've ever met. He's friendly, outgoing, loving and caring, and he just loves everybody with all his heart. Last night I noticed Winston acting a little out of character, he was pacing and panting and struggling to find a comfortable position to lay. Within an hour, he started stumbling, and having problems with his balance. I took him into the vet where they did an exam and told me that he has a compression of his spinal cord which is causing progressive paralysis of his legs. They sent me home with pain medication and anti inflammatories and told me to come back if things got worse. Well this morning, all four legs were affected and he could no longer walk. He went from totally health at 6pm last night to unable to walk at 7am today. I took him back to the vet and was told surgery was mandatory for his survival but the cost of that surgery will be upwards of 8000 to 10000. Without it, i will have to put him to sleep. Winston is otherwise healthy and is only 7 years old. Surgery promises a 90% sucess rate and a long and healthy life. Winston deserves a fighting chance. He has helped so many people and does not deserve what is happening to him. In order to save his life, I need to raise enough money for this surgery. I am pleading with anyone who can help. Any money that you can donate will help and is so greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance from me and my boy!
Update: after CT Scan, they determined the bulging disc is not the cause of his symptoms, they are now thinking it may be Meningitis but this is not definitive. then have done a spinal tap and more blood work and we are waiting for results. His white blood is a little elevated and he definitely has encephalitis, which they are treating, but we still don't know what is causing the paralysis. Hopefully we get result soon. our vet bill to date is sitting at about $6000 and we still have more tests to go. thanks again for the help and the love.
