Support Mary Beth Shovlin's Cancer Journey

My dear and best friend Mary Beth Shovlin has been living with cancer for over a year now. As her friend I am reaching out to all her friends. My husband is from the Pittston Junction just like Mary Beth and they have a way of dealing with taking care of each other and that is showing up in a time of need for each other. Mary Beth has always been there for anyone who needed her and now we can help her. Mary Beth worked her entire life and has supported herself and will not ask for help. She is surrounded by her family and friends who are there for her and continue to be there for her. Her positive attitude continues to cheer up her loved ones and friends. She never met a stranger as the saying goes. Everyone who knows her knows her love for her animals. She recently lost her best friend and companion Bear who has been by her side through it all. Just making this journey even harder. Heartbroken is an understatement.

It is emotionally, and physically painful to not make the suffering go away for Mary Beth. The healing is up to God and Mary Beth's team of doctors. But we can take one worry off of the table for Mary Beth by coming together to take the financial burden from her as she undergoes treatments and setbacks as all cancer patients experience. Mary Beth has been unable to work and support herself and her treatments may extend for years in the future. She continues to have medical bills, traveling expenses and all the expenses of trying to live without her own earned income. If all her friends would just give a little or a lot, we will meet our goal. Thank you in advance for loving Mary Beth and showing your support for her.

Well, I’m more than happy to KICK 2024 OUT the door... I’m halfway through my treatments for endometrial cancer... following a major 5 1/2-hour surgery and many appointments I am going into 2025 with the hopes of being healthy by March... I can’t thank my daughter and son-in-law, my grandsons, sisters, brothers in law, brothers, sisters in law, nieces and nephews, my stepdaughter Amy for always checking in and my closest friends and my New Jersey lake family and Daniel and Liz Salcedo and Hala Doyle and my awesome neighbors for being such an amazing support system daily. And to everyone who has given me words of encouragement I thank you, it really means a lot. I have not shed a tear over this because I have the best medical team anyone could ever ask for and I got this. So, I wish each and every one of you a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR may you all have health and happiness throughout the year. I love you all ❤️❤️❤️

Well, I’m at my final chemo treatment today and then I’ll have a ct scan on March 5th... happy birthday to me on March 8th lol… I will meet with surgeon on March 25th and radiation dr on March 28th... Nicole said that it’s very possible that the mass in my left side could be gone…but they can keep me on Keytruda immunotherapy for the rest of my life. Pray for me to be cancer free on my scan. I feel better than I have in years and am going to take this new lease on life and live my best life every day. Expect to see me out and about soon and thank you everyone for your help, prayers and moral support throughout my journey. March 10, 2025, update:

The results of the ct scan showed that the mass that was missed in her surgery on the left side has increased to the size of a grapefruit. Her oncology team has decided to treat the mass with radiation instead of surgery. She may still need surgery in the future depending on the outcome after the radiation. She may also be facing an additional round of chemotherapy along with her immunotherapy (which will continue for a minimum of 2 years).

The good news is other than this mass everything is clear on this latest scan!!!!!! Please continue to send positive thoughts and prayers.
