My precious nephew Wyatt Soileau was born on January 28th at 11:40 pm. Realizing that he was not breathing like he should and after several attempts to get his O2 levels up he then had to be sent to the NICU. After several tests were ran, the doctors concluded that Wyatt needed to be airlifted to UNC Hospital. Once Mommy and Wyatt were transferred, it did not take long for the doctors to figure out that Wyatt had a heart defect and that he needed emergency heart surgery or he would not make it another 6 hours. Wyatt has been diagnosed with Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return (TAPVR) which is a rare congenital malformation. Instead of his pulmonary veins connecting back to the heart to deliver oxygenated blood, they were going to his liver and the rest of his body was not getting oxygen like it should have. At only 11 HOURS old, this little guy endured a major surgery. He is stable but requires a lot of life sustaining machines and medications which means he is expected to remain at UNC for several more weeks. Each day we are seeing improvements! Wyatt has a long way to go but he is proving that he is without a doubt strong and brave!
Any contributions are greatly appreciated to help Ben and Hannah with expenses for their continued stay at Chapel Hill and arising medical bills.
