Never in my life did I think I’d have to make this, but here we are. Unfortunately, in November, as I was walking down the stairs with my baby, I slipped. To save her, I landed all my weight on my left ankle, causing me to tear ligaments on both sides. It ended in me having to be out of work and having to do physical therapy. I couldn’t bear any weight on it and had to use a mobility scooter and wear a special boot.

Before the accident, I was working 7 days a week with special needs children and their families. My job is what kept us barely afloat, and even missing one day would set us back.

My amazing husband is working as much as he can to support us, but his income alone just isn’t enough. He had to take some time off work himself in order to help me and his mother, who has medical issues as well. With all this, it has set us back pretty far and we are struggling. Up to this point, we have had to rely on friends, churches, and food banks to stay afloat and to even afford necessities for our children. This accident has caused us to be behind on utilities and rent as well, and we are worried about being able to keep a roof over our family’s head.

And now for the past two weeks, my 10-month-old baby and I have been battling Covid-19 and the flu, which has caused my husband to miss out on even more work. It has also caused me to push my date back to return to work.
