Help Michael Hensley on His Road to Recovery

It has been a week since Michael was taken to the hospital in extreme pain and loss of feeling below the waist. After a battery of tests and a hospital transfer from Kansas City to SLU he has been diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis. TM is a rare neurological condition that happens when the spinal cord becomes inflamed resulting in a long list of neurological issues.

He is being treated with IV steroids and Immunoglobulin to decrease the inflammation in his spinal cord and reduce immune system activity.

He was just transferred to a Rehabilitation hospital to improve functional skills and prevent secondary complications of TM. While we are expecting him to make a full recovery the healing process can take many months.
