Hello, my name is Jorge Lozano, I am Colombian and an Architect by profession. I am raising funds for the treatment of my daughter Catalina Lozano. She was diagnosed with cancer (Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia). She is currently 10 years old and is still undergoing treatment.

My daughter Catalina was diagnosed on January 18, 2022. This news radically changed our lives, but especially Catalina's. One believes that the most that can happen to a child at this age is a cold, but never that they should go through so much physical and emotional pain and that they should be torn between life and death.

In my country of origin (Colombia) we began the treatment at the FUNDACIÓN CARDIO INFANTIL clinic in the city of Bogotá, there we began the first cycles of chemotherapy corresponding to the treatment. On the recommendation of the pediatric hematologic oncology doctor, a bone marrow transplant should be performed. By this time, the treatment was financially draining us and our savings.

My family is made up of four people, my wife María Fernanda, my eldest daughter Ana Sofia, my daughter Catalina and me. My daughter Ana Sofia, currently 21 years old, had to leave university studies because we could not pay for them anymore. She began to suffer from depression due to the situation with her sister and the difficult situation we were going through.

Taking care of our daughter in the clinic required time and a lot of money, to the point of selling the company, car and other assets we had at the time, our lives were collapsing in front of us.

The medical conditions allowed us to go out and look for a bone marrow donor, which, although we did the tests, the results were not very high and this complicated things. In July 2023, I decide to come to the United States in search of a universal donor that is compatible with my daughter. After an exhaustive search and visiting several hospitals and clinics, I arrived at Nicklaus Children's Hospital in the city of Miami, There I found many angels who made our goal possible. From this moment on, he had little time to prepare everything. We decided to sell the apartment to be able to pay for the trip and stay here in Miami. This, along with policies, medical insurance and other necessary things, made this journey extremely expensive. I asked for loans from banks and financial help from relatives to be able to get here. Finally, my daughter Catalina, my wife and my eldest daughter were already here and we immediately began the continuity and new stage of the treatment.

For the first week of October 2023, the bone marrow transplant was performed with very good results and very good future projection.

We have a long way to go in this process and fight on this difficult path against cancer. This has not only been an event that has changed Catalina's life but also ours as a family. We need financial support to give him a better opportunity for treatment and recovery to offer him a healthy and happy life as every child deserves. These have been days of anguish and fear, no family should go through this situation.

Mi hija catalina fue diagnosticada el 18 de enero del 2022, esta noticia cambio radicalmente nuestras vidas, pero especialmente la de catalina. Uno cree que lo máximo que pueda pasarle a un niño a esta edad es un resfriado, pero nunca que deban pasar por tanto dolor físico como emocional y que deban debatirse entre la vida y la muerte

En mi país de origen (Colombia) iniciamos el tratamiento en la clínica FUNDACIÓN CARDIO INFANTIL en la ciudad de Bogotá, allí iniciamos los primeros ciclos de quimio terapia correspondientes al tratamiento. Por recomendación del médico hemato oncológico pediatra, se debía hacer un trasplante de medula. Para este momento, el tratamiento estaba acabando financieramente con nosotros y nuestros ahorros.

Mi familia la conformamos cuatro personas, mi esposa María Fernanda, mi hija mayor Ana Sofia, mi hija Catalina y yo. Mi hija Ana Sofia de 21 años de edad en la actualidad, tuvo que dejar los estudios universitarios pues no pudimos pagarlos más, ella empezó un cuadro de depresión por la situación con su hermana y la situación tan difícil en la que atravesamos.

El cuidar a nuestra hija en la clínica demandaba tiempo y mucho dinero, al punto de vender la empresa, carro y otros activos que se tenían en se momento, nuestras vidas se derrumbaban frente a nosotros.

Las condiciones médicas permitían salir a buscar el donante de medula, que, aunque nosotros nos hicimos las pruebas, los resultados no eran muy altos y esto complicaba las cosas. Para julio del 2023 decido venir a estados unidos en busca de un donante universal que sea compatible con mi hija, después de una búsqueda exhaustiva y de visitar varios hospitales y clínicas, llegue al el nicklaus children hospital de la ciudad de miami. allí encontré muchos ángeles que permitían hacer posible nuestro objetivo. A partir de este momento, tenía poco tiempo para preparar todo. Decidimos vender el apartamento para poder costear con el viaje y la permanencia aquí en miami. esto junto con pólizas, seguros médicos y demás cosas necesarias hacían de esta travesía algo supremamente costoso. Pedí prestamos en bancos y ayuda financiera a familiares para poder llegar hasta aquí. Finalmente, mi hija catalina, mi esposa y mi hija mayor ya estaban aquí e iniciamos de manera inmediata la continuidad y nueva etapa del tratamiento.

Para la primera semana de octubre del 2023 se realizó el trasplante de medula con muy buenos resultados y muy buena proyección a futuro

Nos queda un camino largo en este proceso y lucha en este difícil camino contra el cáncer. Este no ha sido solo un evento que ha cambiado la vida de catalina sino también de nosotros como familia. necesitamos de apoyo financiero para darle una mejor oportunidad de tratamiento y de recuperación para ofrecerle una vida sana y feliz como todo niño merece. han sido días de angustia y temor, ninguna familia debería pasar por esta situación.
