Our friend Allie is one of the most comforting and kindest people we know. She and her family are consistently there for others and create a welcoming and comfortable environment whenever possible.
Allie and her family live in North Fort Myers and have been devastated by Hurricane Ian. Their home, which has been in their family for generations, flooded early on in Hurricane Ian's movement across Florida due to the storm surges that were happening across the state. Her mom, aunt, sister, and two cats and dog were stuck in the house while her dad was trapped outside, in his work shed. He could not enter the house for fear of letting more water in. At the worst point, the home was flooded with 5 feet of water.
The family was eventually able to boat to safety, docking the boat in the middle of the flooded street by tying it to a stop sign. The Wilson's lost all of their family photos, generations of passed down items, and many other things that are near and dear to them. While they are all physically unharmed, this damage is devastating. Their house was always welcoming and a refuge for many people of Fort Myers and Allie's college friends. The Wilsons have always been kind to the community; now, they need our kindness in return.
Every little bit helps. If you can't donate, please share this GoFundMe. Thank you for anything you can contribute.
