Support Lori's Battle Against Stage 4 Cancer

Hi, Everyone,

In January, our dear friend Lori Garrard, found a large mass in her neck. Tests showed the mass was metastatic squamous cell carcinoma in her head and neck. On February 20, Lori saw an oncologist at the Moffitt Center and was diagnosed with stage 4 throat cancer. After further testing, Lori was admitted to the hospital for a week to treat mild kidney disease, blood disease, and sepsis. Lori's cancer treatment will require her to have chemotherapy once a week and radiation 5 days a week for 6 weeks, followed by another PET scan and neck dissection surgery. Following that, we do not know what the course of treatment will be. Lori has been trying to work when she can between doctor appointments and testing. She hopes to continue to work part-time during her cancer treatments if she's well enough. Lori is determined to fight, but loss of income and medical expenses not covered by insurance will cause financial difficulties and stress she does not need at this time.
