Guatemala Volcano Relief
Donation protected
My wife is from Antigua Guatemala and over the last 14 years I have traveled to this wonderful country and have been charmed by its warm and loving people. I was once hospitalized there after an illness and was nursed back to health by the wonderful health professionals. Now is my chance to give back to a country that has shown me such love and kindness. My brother in law is a volunteer firefighter (bombero) and the need for supplies is great.
I know people in El Rodeo a small town near the volcano who lost everything including family members.
Donations will go directly to buy medical supplies to help those affected by the volcano. Some of it will also be used to supply the volunteer fire department with supplies to help find survivors and lost souls.
Funds will go directly to my father and mother in law in Antigua Guatemala just 11 miles from the volcano. They have already set up a staging area for the firefighters to sleep and are serving them dinner and breakfast to expedite their work. No funds will be in the hands of the government.
My goal is to have the first payment (of many I hope) in Guatemala by Friday June 8th. Fundraising and money transfers do take some time so I hope and pray I can get them the desperately needed money by Friday.
June 10th update: We have sent the first funding to support the fire departments who are on search and rescue in and around El Rodeo. Families are being provided basic items to get them on the road to some kind of normalcy.
