Help us move to NYC
Donation protected
Hi Friends,
After a tumultuous couple of years with school, out-of-town internships, and saying goodbye to our beloved dogs, as well as the consistent anti-trans fervor in this state, we are now faced with a unique opportunity. Beth has accepted a full-time position working with mammals at the Bronx Zoo. She applied and interviewed with zoos around the country for the last few months but the Bronx, after some trepidation over our ability to relocate and adjust to big city life, decided to take a chance on her. A dream position with good benefits, supporting the greater missions of the Wildlife Conservation Society, is exactly what Beth has been working towards these past few years.
On my end, I am still in school, but I am taking only one course to focus on moving and finding a job. The type of survey work available in the city is exciting and challenging, and the daily routine and experience is exactly what I need to finish my degree and eventually attain licensure. My NYC job search is still ongoing- I have promising leads and connections but nothing solid yet. With any luck, I will have a position lined up before Beth’s official start date of May 6.
However, we need some financial help to make the move. We are downsizing and doing what we can to make and save money, but New York is a uniquely expensive challenge. Our plan involves a potential 1–2-month Airbnb stay while establishing income and apartment hunting, so we are asking for help to make that possible. Please share this. We greatly appreciate any help we get.
Thanks,
Andrea
