Please help my family rebuild

Hi, my name is Malia Paulino. My mom, dad, and brother have currently spent the last 48 hours away from my childhood home that got destroyed in the Lahaina fires due to Hurricane Dora. I cannot believe that I’m sitting here writing this, and I want nothing more than this to be just a horrible dream that we all wake up from, but if you have absolutely any funds to put towards this, I beg you.

The wonderful and beautifully historic town of Lahaina, where I have been blessed to grow up in, is gone. My first job I got when I was 16 is gone. My family, peers and people who I love, our memories are ashes. 91 Kahili Pl is the place my parents started their livelihoods, the place they brought me home to after I was born, the place where my brother and I would grow up playing in the cul de sac until the street light came on, the place I planted each and every memory I have to this day, and the one and only place I have called home for the past 21 years.

They have worked tirelessly to just recently put on a new roof to our house, one that got thoroughly destroyed through the Hurricane Lane in 2018. They just recently bought tickets to go back to the place where they grew up, Portugal, in hopes of finding a place to purchase and finally settle after providing for me and my brother for two decades. The amount of heartbreak that I feel knowing they might have to wait on their dreams of retirement in Portugal is unexplainable.

I am not someone who usually asks for help, and it honestly pains me to, especially since my family are not the only ones who is going through this, my family isn’t the only family who’s currently homeless.

But nonetheless, if you have the means to, please help.
