Help Sam Adcox & his family during this tough time
Donation protected
Hi everyone, Sam's kids here. Anyone who knows our dad would say he is one of the greatest people they've ever met. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone, so now we are asking for help. Sam has a precancerous cystic lesion on his pancreas. Because pancreatic cancer is so aggressive and the results of the molecular study of the cells from the biopsy showing the odds of it becoming cancer would happen anytime within the next 2 years, the drs said that this surgery couldnt wait, it needs to be removed as soon as possible. Amandas dad died of pancreatic cancer and only lived a very short time after his diagnosis. So we dont want to take any chances here. They can't just remove the cyst, so on February 27th he will be having a "Whipple procedure" where they will remove the head of the pancreas which is where the cyst is, as well as, his gallbladder, bile duct, jejunum, duodenum, part of his small intestine and occasionally they also must remove part of the stomach. The organs removed will be biopsied and if it has already turned into cancer he will need to have chemo also.
Sam will be in the hospital in St louis for at least 2 weeks-he will having a feeding tube inserted directly into his stomach as well as a tube coming out of his stomach to drain any vomit he has. He will have an epidural, multiple drains and at least 2 IVs.
I'm sure you can understand how much worrying we are all doing.
That being said, any money given will be used towards gas for his family going back and forth to st louis. Sam also needs to be in St. Louis for the 2 days before his procedure and they may want him to stay close for a couple days after being released so this would help to pay for lodging for him and also for his family so we can take turns staying close to him. Any money would also help with the family's monthly bills due to sam being off work for the time in the hospital and the additional minimum of 2 months he will be off while recovering.
Any little bit will help and we would really appreciate it if you are unable to help right now to share this post and say a prayer for him as he goes through this.
Thank you so much for caring!!
