Help Connie Kick Cancer's Butt!!

Donation protected
Our Mom has spent her life overcoming obstacles and making the best of her circumstances. However, she never imagined that she would get diagnosed with breast cancer, or that it would have such an immediate and negative impact on her life.

A little back story: Our Mom is one of those people who gets knocked down and keeps getting back up. The thing is, eventually the fall is so hard that getting back up is much harder. In 2016, she suffered an injury that left her with a life-long disability. While that was devastating, she was also forced to “retire” from her career, something that she not only loved but was very good at. But true to form, she picked herself up. After working hard to block the pain (both physical and emotional), she began supporting herself with a part-time job last spring. Her income was still limited but she had found a job she was passionate about.

In early October, Connie went in for her yearly mammogram. She is very on top of screenings and was somewhat surprised to be called back for an ultrasound. Even more shocking was when she was informed she needed a biopsy for not one but TWO separate masses. By the time the biopsy results came, our Mom was shaken. She has no family history of breast cancer and thought this couldn’t really be happening.

Only a few weeks later, she was meeting with the surgeon and oncologist. Everyone thought a lumpectomy would be a good option to get it done and move on. The first lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy was done on November 16, 2021, but unfortunately the margins were not clear and an additional surgery was needed three days later.  Once again, the margins were not clean. One mass was sneaky and more profusely spread out. Her medical team discovered more tumor cells that need to be taken care of and she is now scheduled for a mastectomy on December 8th.

CLEARLY THIS CANCER IS AN ASSHOLE.

Since being diagnosed, our Mom has begun experiencing the financial implications of cancer treatment. She has been unable to work since her first lumpectomy, and her return to work has been significantly delayed due to her impending mastectomy and subsequent healing and treatments. Because of how invasive and significant this cancer is, her financial hardships will continue. Any donations will be used toward her bills, rent, food, etc., and would let her focus on healing and surviving this fight. Our Mom, and all of us, appreciate you taking the time to read this, and we are all grateful for any and all donations/help that can be given.
