Hello, my name is Mike Heasman and I have been dealing with Prostrate Cancer for approximately 5 years. At first my PSA levels, while elevated, were just being monitored.
Approximately 2 years ago my PSA level was high enough that action was required.
I elected for robotic prostrate removal surgery. The surgery was scheduled for May 1, 2024. It went well, I was able to return to work in August.
In September of 2024 it was discovered that the surgery did not remove all the cancer and that further treatment was required.
In November of 2024 I started hormone therapy treatment and then in December I started radiation treatment. This treatment has left me unable to work, though I am hopeful to return to work in the upcoming weeks.
What I need help with is getting caught up on my bills. I have been without a work pay check since October. I was denied sick benefits from EI as I didn't have enough hours to qualify. I have been approved by ODSP for financial help, but that process has been going on for a couple of months and while some money is coming forth on April 30th, it won't even make a dent on my debt.
My mortgage company is threatening to forclose as all of their financial aid options have been exhausted.
Besides the household bills, my credit cards are maxed out with expenses dealing with my medical treatments that were not covered by the Northern Travel grants.
I want to thank you for whatever assistance that you can provide me.
Mike
