My name is Scott Wilson. I am 33 years old. I am an artist and thrill seeker from San Antonio, TX. For the past 10 months I have been training with a group of amputees called the "Cloud Walkers" to climb Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa. Over these months we have bonded to become a family and support system. Just the training alone has tested us to our core, and made us look deep inside of ourselves to see if we have what it takes to get to the top. We are 13 amputees about to embark on a monumental once-in-a-life-time journey. On December 26th, 2015, we will leave San Antonio & travel to Tanzania, Africa to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world standing at 19,341feet. We will be accompanied by a medical support team and a film crew. The film crew have already began to interview and capture footage as we physically and mentally prepare. The film crew plan to create a human interest documentary depicting stories of resilience, perseverance, and the strength of the human spirit...At the end of this trip there will be a full length, two-hour documentary to hopefully educate the public on the constant daily struggles of amputees, and inspire individuals that there are no limits to what sheer determination and perseverance can accomplish.Here is my back story of how I became an amputee if you are interested.http://www.cloudwalkersblogs.com/scott I have trained to be mentally and physically ready for this expedition for the past 10 months; however, there are many essentials that can make or break the success of an adventure of this magnitude. Over the course of a year we have raised funds to cover the travel and expedition expenses. On top of those. Each Climber will need thousands of dollars in cold-weather expedition gear, also there are many diseases in Africa that Americans need to be vaccinated against before traveling. Including Yellow fever, Typhoid, Hepatitis A and B, anti-malarial pills just to name a few.
