Randy's Cancer Battle

On June 26th my dad went to the emergency department at Sanford. There he was admitted with pneumonia, pulmonary emboli, and a large, concerning mass and satellite masses throughout his lungs.

Through a chest, head, and abdomen CT scan they found he had lesions to his liver, rib bones, multiple vertebrae, his pelvis, scapulas, and his brain. It has now spread to his right humerus.

He was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Adenocarcinoma of the lung and referred to oncology. His oncologist estimated 1-2 months without treatment, so, we decided to fight and give him all the tools to beat this beast. They estimated he could make it up to 2 years with treatment, but only 15% battling this will make it that long.

Through multiple hospitalizations, we've found his cancer is so aggressive that even with immunotherapy, chemotherapy, and radiation it continues to wreak havoc on his body.

His large lung mass is strangling his bronchial tree, slowly cutting off blood and oxygen supply to his right lung. This has greatly impacted his heart and he's slowly filling with fluid.

We took him home Monday, the 29th on Hospice after being hospitalized since last week. He is very weak and in an immense amount of pain due to his bone cancer.
