Help me save my Husky girl, Luna!

Greetings everyone!

I have received the terrible news that my fur-baby, Luna, a 7-year-old Husky mix, has bone cancer in her left leg. The cancer has developed to a point where she could break her leg getting up or even going potty. If that were to happen, she would have to be euthanized before her time. She is going to need an amputation and chemotherapy, which I anticipate to be well over $15,000 considering I’ve already spent $6,000 just on finding out she has cancer. If by the end of her treatment, I don’t use all the money that has been raised, the remaining balance will be donated to the Camarillo shelter where I adopted her in southern California.

Luna has the typical characteristics and personality of a Husky. Like most dogs, she loves the beach and the forest, hanging her whole body out the car window and chasing lizards, squirrels and birds.

I adopted Luna when she was 3 years old. She was a pretty damaged soul and was very protective and territorial of me and wouldn't let any other dogs get near me. I almost gave up on her but decided not to and with love, time and consistency, she became THE best dog and the best thing that’s ever happened to me. It's said that the dogs we love most, are often the dogs that "misbehave" the most. With Luna, that couldn't be truer! My fondest memory with her was not only stressful but also terrifying. I used to live on a farm in College, which had a pasture across the street. One morning, I let her out to potty. Next thing I know, I'm chasing her barefoot in my pajamas through the pasture. I had to carry her 100 yards through cow poop, all while there was a stampede of cows behind me; only to get electrocuted by the electric fence at the end of it all. It was all worth it though, to get to see the smile on her face, finally getting to live her dream of being a shepherd dog. She did quite well at herding the cows, even with no former experience. She has been my adventure buddy since day one. Hiked hundreds of miles, conquered so many mountains, and camped in countless campgrounds. Luna has provided me with so much love, safety and comfort, and has brought so many people joy! She isn’t just my dog, she’s everyone’s dog. The day I rescued her, was really the day she rescued me. She is my heart and soul; she’s the greatest love I’ve ever known.

There's not much to say about me, since this is about Luna, but I work seasonally as a Wildland Firefighter and am away from Luna for about half the year. It breaks my heart to be apart from her for that long and the season is approaching fast. This has put severe stress and anxiety on me and my family during this difficult time. I sacrifice my precious time with Luna, to help save the resources you and your families love.

I know money may be tight, so anything you give is greatly valued and will not go to waste! If you are not able to donate at this time, then please consider sharing Luna’s story. If you would like something in return, I’m creating some Luna-inspired macrame creations for purchase to help fund her medical expenses. I only ask that you pay through this GoFundMe if you don't have Venmo. I will be posting the gifts on my Instagram business account @lovingg_lunaa and my personal Instagram @copperr_headd (Becca Collins), as well as my Facebook.

Again, thank you so much for taking the time to let me share this with you. You have no idea how much it means to Luna and me and it is greatly appreciated.
