Family, friends, friends of friends, and strangers! Thank you for opening the door into the newest adventure of my life!
I hope this letter finds all of you doing well and enjoying this beautiful time of year. I am now back in Virginia, having just begun my junior year in the Nursing program at Liberty University! I am also getting closer to what God is bringing me to next. I am writing because I am embarking on a very exciting experience this year and I am eager to share it with you! I have known for some time now that I wanted to go and honor God through serving in countries in Africa. After prayer and exploring several options, I have finally found the trip I feel God wants me to be a part of!
From January 2-12, I will be going with a Global Team to the cities of Kigali & Cyangugu in Rwanda, Africa. This team will include about 10 more nursing students, 2 RN's, 2 nursing instructors, a couple translators, and 2 workers from World Help. While we are there, my team will join in doing medical ministries in 3 different hospitals throughout these two cities (One of which we have to take a canoe through a river to get to!) But most importantly, we will get the chance to share with people the hope and peace that only Jesus brings!
As my nursing instructor put it, God will use this trip to make us beautifully broken, gloriously messed up. He will break our hearts when we see our brothers and sisters in Christ suffering so terribly. Just thinking of that makes me all the more eager to go on this trip and feel God's amazing love across all borders!
I would like to personally invite you to join my team and me in bringing this news to the people of Rwanda through prayer and financial support. As the late Dr. Jerry Falwell often said, “Nothing of eternal consequence was ever accomplished without prayer.” I truly believe this and covet your prayers as I prepare mentally, physically and emotionally for this opportunity. I will need to raise $4,000 in order to make my trip a reality. Please pray that God will provide the funds needed for my team to go through the support of our family and friends, like you!
God has given me few passions in my life, Jesus, nursing, and Africa. And now He has provided me with a chance to see the effect of them all working together! I will not say "I'm excited to see what God does with me in Africa" but instead I will say "Thank you God for doing amazing things in Africa, and inviting me to be a part of your adventure!" And thank you to everyone reading this and being a part of my life!
