Virgil's Liver Donations

Donation protected
Hi Everyone
I am writing this story on the behalf of my loving husband. He was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis February 2014. We were shocked because Virgil really hadn't drank in 13 years. He had only been a social drinker. He didn't smoke or do illegal drugs and didn't have Hep C. So we were like how is this possible. I did tell the doctor that Virgil use to be 100 pounds overweight for many years. So the doctors are pretty sure he has NASH liver cirrhosis from being overweight. NASH cirrhosis basically means nonalcoholic damaged fatty liver. The last 2 years have been a emotional roller coaster ride. I am his wife of 22 years and I am his caretaker. He is not aloud to drive due to this horrible disease. So I take him and schedule all his doctor appts. Every other week he has to get fluid drained from his belly due to his liver failing. It is so heartbreaking to watch the one you love so much suffer from day to day and all I want to do is fix him and make him better and I can't. It's very stressful! He gets about 50 pounds of fluid drained a month. He just recently was listed on the liver transplant list. We were so excited. My husband worked so hard and went through a lot of pain to get on the list. He never gave up and I am so proud of him! Now the doctor bills are piling up. And we have to have $2000.00 up front for the transplant and another $2500.00 after the transplant. He will have to take anti rejection liver medication for the rest of his life after the transplant which is about $10,000.00 a year. We would deeply appreciate any type of donation. Virgil is a great guy and husband! He is one of the nicest person you could ever meet. God has blessed us to get this far when we didn't think he even had a chance to make it! And all the support from our friends and family is what kept us going! We refuse to give up!
Thank you for your time!

This is what Virgil looked like before he got sick! Now he is like a bag of bones. He lost all his muscle mass and has osteoporosis now.
