Hi! My name is Summer, i’ve had Teddy since i was 10yo / 2015. He is now 11 years old and genuinely the sweetest boy, has always been there to sit by me while i went through horrible mental health as a teenager- he’s an amazing support. He and his sister Winnie live with my dad outside of Brighton.

•The bond between my dad and these dogs is genuinely like no other. He cares so deeply for the pair of them, spoils them, i mean he buys them a victoria sponge cake to share for their birthdays.

He and Teddy have a very special bond, being the only men of the house haha.

A few days ago (writing this 30.4.26), Teddy was taken into the vets as we were concerned since he had stopped eating, drinking, was very lethargic and was being sick.

The vets informed us that he had developed diabetes, something very unusual to develop at his age! They advised we take Teddy to brighton veterinary hospital for treatment and surveillance. This in itself was estimated to cost around 1.5k for an overnight stay including ivf and insulin.

Upon arrival at the hospital, we were informed that Teddy had a lot more complications than initially expected. Liver issues, pancreatitis, heart issues on top of the diabetes.

The veterinary hospital gave us a couple options. We could go through a series of treatments that would span across a number of months or we could do the inevitable..

There is one issue however, and that is the sheer cost of said treatments. We have only been given an estimate, not a quote, however we are looking at £5,000 give or take..

Thankfully, after Teddy’s first night at the hospital, he started gaining strength back and my dad went to go visit him saying he was doing so much better!!! He stayed an additional 2 nights with tonight being time for him to come home (YAY!). We are all so grateful to the vets who worked with Ted, and who took such great care of our baby.

Teddy will be needing insulin treatments at home and these are NOT cheap. Along with the various treatments etc that he’ll be participating in over the next number of months.

I would like to add, that my dad is not aware of myself creating this crowd fund. He is not the type to want to take money from others in any sense, he is a very noble man who is trying to do his best for my family.
