For those of you that know the Moure family, you probably know what a mark they have made on so many people over the years in our community. Whether you have interacted with their lovely daughters through programs they were involved with at Pinelands Regional, cheered on football and soccer teams together at local sport’s fields, stood next to them in prayer at St. Theresa's Parish Church, or worked in tandem with them towards local causes and charities, you've come to know them as the kind, giving, and loving people they are. There are those of us that have recently come to know that their family has been facing a great deal of hardship over the past few years, specifically due to health issues faced by Enrique.

In 2021, Enrique contracted a respiratory illness that lingered for weeks, causing him to suffer long term respiratory effects that stayed with him for months afterwards. In May of the same year, he went on to have quadruple bypass surgery. In 2023, he would be diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy, causing partial vision loss in his eye, and severely limiting his ability to work as a long distance truck driver. At this time, he was also diagnosed with advanced kidney disease, which progressed into end stage renal failure. In April of 2024, he recently started dialysis at home every night for 9 hours. In February 2025, he was let go from his job as a truck driver due to his multiple health conditions, and has been hospitalized many times this past year.

Over the course of the past 18 months, the family has been on a journey of dialysis

and illness, causing them physical, emotional, and financial stress. At this point, they have almost completely drained their savings due to the insurmountable medical bills. As a result, the family has had to make many financial sacrifices and may unfortunately have to sell their home in which they raised both their daughters.

The only good news is Enrique has qualified to be on the kidney transplant list at Robert Wood Johnson and UPenn. Although this is a huge step, it can take between 5-7 years to find a donor, if at all. The family has a long road ahead with dialysis, the complications that

come with that process, and constant medical bills. Just this past weekend, Enrique was once again hospitalized and is now required to be transported several times a week to a facility in Manahawkin to receive dialysis. This will be a routine he will have to maintain for years, at least until he receives a new kidney.

Bart and I have made the decision to reach out to anyone who will be able to help these decent and wonderful people bear the crushing and immediate burden of Enrique’s medical bills and the living expenses that have amassed due to his inability to work over the course of the past eight months.
