I’m Caroline Buckley from New York City, and I’ve partnered with Adrian McDonald, a trusted local community leader in Petersfield, Westmoreland, to deliver immediate, direct relief to families most affected by Hurricane Melissa. The money raised will provide food, clean water, shelter materials, and essential supplies — and working to repair and rebuild damaged homes across the parish.
In Adrian’s Words:
“Petersfield is more than a location — it’s home. It’s the soil I was raised on, the place I’ve lived for over 30 years, and the heart behind my work and art. Many of my short films and photographs were created right here — not as projects, but as love letters to the people who raised me, inspired me, and walked life alongside me.
When Hurricane Melissa struck, it didn’t just hit a parish on a map — it devastated the homes, lives, and spirits of people I personally know and care deeply about. Some have lost everything. Yet, in the midst of loss, our community remains strong, proud, and worthy of support.
This relief fund exists to bridge that gap — to bring help where it’s needed most. Because I live here and know this community intimately, I can ensure that every contribution reaches the right hands with transparency and dignity.
This is not charity from afar — this is neighbors helping neighbors, families lifting one another, and a community rebuilding with love, integrity, and hope. Together, we will restore homes, rebuild lives, and honor the spirit of Petersfield.”
Your Contribution Will Help Provide:
- Food supplies: Rice, flour, canned goods, baby formula, and other non-perishables
- Clean water: Bottled water, purification tablets, and refill containers
- Shelter: Tarps, tents, plastic sheeting, and sleeping mats for displaced families
- Home repairs: Roofing materials, lumber, tools, and construction support for rebuilding damaged homes
- Power & communication: Solar lamps, batteries, and Starlink internet to restore connection across the parish
- Hygiene & care: First-aid kits, diapers, sanitary supplies, and essentials for infants and elders
How We’re Making It Happen
Adrian and volunteer members will travel weekly to Kingston, which was largely unaffected by the storm and has access to stocked suppliers. They’ll purchase bulk non-perishables and repair materials, then transport them directly back to Westmoreland for distribution and rebuilding projects.
To keep everything transparent and accountable:
- Adrian is building family profiles each week, documenting those in greatest need.
- Updates, photos, and short videos will be shared showing exactly how donations are used.
- All funds raised through this verified GoFundMe will be managed administratively and distributed for direct aid, home repair, and logistics.
Our Goal
We aim to provide sustained weekly relief across Westmoreland while helping families repair and rebuild their homes as power, water, and communication lines are gradually restored.
Even a small donation makes a big difference:
- $25 can feed a family for several days
- $100 can help provide shelter materials and clean water
- $250+ can contribute to repairing a damaged roof or rebuilding a family’s home
